Frequently asked questions

How much per metre is fencing?

As all sites are different and there are so many different styles of fence, we offer a free measure and quote service so we can give you an accurate costing.  We can also provide advice on different options that might best suit the situation.

Do you do gate automation?

Yes we do. We provide top quality automation equipment to cover every type of gate.  We offer solar options where power is not available. We also have a range of intercoms including video and audio. We have many access control systems available, but these are discussed on site with the client.

What is the height I am allowed for residential fencing?

This is determined by the Council regulations and any covenants in your area.  Generally speaking, 2 metres would be the maximum height you can go. This can be confirmed by checking on your local council bylaws.

Do I need to have to have the site cleared ready for the erection of my fence?

Although, we do prefer to have the fence lines cleared and ready, we are happy to clear the site but this does incur an extra cost.

Do I need a council consent with my fence?

In most situations this is not required if you building within the Council bylaws.

Does my neighbour have to pay half of the cost of the fence?

In most situations yes, but this must be discussed between the neighbours. Information on this can be found under the Fencing Act 1978 http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1978/0050/latest/DLM21807.html

What type of fence do I need for around my swimming pool?

All swimming pools require a pool compliant fence and gate under the Building (Pools) Amendment Act 2016, an amendment to the Building Act 2004. We have several options that meet budgets and styles and we provide advice and safety checks. We also provide the documentation required by your Council.

Why do you insist on steel frames for timber gates?

Timber is a natural product and will do “natural” things like warping, twisting and shrinking. This over time can make the gate twist and not work efficiently. Using a steel frame on the gate limits this from happening.

How long will my fence take to build?

This depends on our work load, style and availability from our supplier. This can be discussed with one of our sales team at the quoting stage.

What styles and colours are available?

We have many suppliers so our options are vast. We generally have a fence that will work with anyone’s budget. We offer the full powdercoated colour range on our panel fencing and gates.

Do you custom make fences or gates that aren’t in your standard range?

Yes we do. We have a workshop for fabrication and can generally manufacture fences and gates to meet your required needs.

Do I need to get power to my gateway for my automated gates and if so, how much does that cost?

This depends on the location of the gate from a suitable power supply. We can offer mains power supply, 24V power supply from a power source within 50m or solar. The cost depends on which option is more viable.

What happens with the underground services?

This is the customer’s responsibility to locate and mark out before construction commences.

How do I clean my glass fence?

You can clean the glass as you would your windows. There is a protective coating called EnduroShield that reduces cleaning time by 90%. This coating gives the glass a protective barrier whereby water and contaminants will bead up on top of the coating. This coating is an additional cost.
